Caryl is a progressive ship :)

Caryl wouldn’t have to be progressive if society wasn’t full of ageist and sexist assholes. Everyone knows the kind of arguments people use against Caryl.

Carol does not “look older than Daryl”. It’s just that men are allowed to age but not women. Carol is not “too hardened for Daryl” it’s just that people think “women are supposed to be submissive and less involved on decision-making” or “Daryl needs someone he can protect” or “Daryl needs someone innocent and virginal”. The day it becomes normal for couples on fiction to be played by actors of the same age instead of how common it is for the actresses to be way younger than the men and the day people stop hating female characters for the same reason they love male characters and the day it becomes common for middle aged women to be portrayed as badass while also having fullfilling romantic relationships with men that respect them then it won’t be a progressive ship anymore. I personally hope that day arrives soon.
