Just saw your last post, and I'm disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Caryler, ship them since season 3, but I think it would be important to have such a huge representation as Daryl Dixon being gay. I can put my feelings for them aside when it comes to this matter.

Before answering this question, because I think it’s gonna touch a subject I don’t have the property to talk about, since I’m not gay or bisexual, I want to say that this is my opinion on it and in no way I’m trying to disrespect people actually fighting for representation on tv shows. Because as a black woman, I sure as hell know that this is something important.

But, back to your question. The thing for me is: the majority of people shipping Daryl x *insert any white male dude here with blue eyes* is not looking for representation. They want to see two handsome white dudes banging. They are fetishizing a homosexual relationship. That’s what they are doing.

Let me tell you reasons why I can’t take these people seriously:

1) They ship characters that barely had any interaction, in which none of these said interactions are in any shape or form affectionate or at least peaceful.

2) At the same time, they are the first ones to say that they just “can’t see” the connection between Caryl, that there is no way it can be romantic, that they just “don’t understand” and that it’s “not possible”.

2) They erase canon relationships in order to make their “ship” more relevant. Canon relationships such as a white guy with a black woman.

I wonder where were those people defending Aaron and Eric when they received tons of shit because their characters shared a kiss on television and fighting for representation.
Where were those people defending Tara when she was mocked on certain parts of the fandom (yeah, unfortunately, I saw shit like that).

And if these people are really looking for representation, let me just ask you something back:

Why we don’t have people shipping Daryl Dixon and Glenn? Daryl Dixon and Tyreese? Daryl Dixon and Morgan? I mean, he has a solid relationship with Glenn, sometimes even more solid than his relationship with Rick. Him and Tyreese had some heated scenes, and he was willing to let Tyreese punch him when he lost his mind over Karen. Morgan SAVED his life, the same way Jesus did.

So… Where are these shippers? Where? I never saw them.

Oh wait. Because they are POC. They don’t fit the “white male dude with blue eyes” category. So they are not worthy of being shipped

The same way Aaron and Eric are not worthy of being defended. The same way Tara is not worthy of being defended.

Sorry anon. I’m more interested in defending the canon couples and characters we already have, then erase Daryl and Carol relationship and what these could represent to a society where a woman over 40 is not considered desirable anymore, so we could see Daryl and Jesus having sex. I’m more interested in saying a fuck you to everyone who ever said shitty things about Eric and Aaron and Tara, then erase a canon relationship between Michonne and Rick.

I’m way more interested in not having gay characters being killed every week on my tv shows than have Daryl x *insert any white male dude that fit your standards of men’s beauty*
